A World Of Choice With The Lumix FZ38 Digital Camera

By Justin Davies

The decision to purchase a Lumix FZ38 camera is one that requires informed decisions on the available choices and options on offer. The obvious consideration for any potential buyer of a digital camera is the purpose for which the camera is being bought. It can be used for domestic or commercial purposes.

When making such an important purchase, the buyer must keep abreast of the terminology used to define the features of the camera in order to make a sound decision. One of the most important features to be aware of, as a buyer is the camera resolution. A buyer essentially should go for the highest megapixel value they can afford on their camera. The minute, colored dots that make up an image are called pixels, and their density per inch in a photo determines the sharpness and size of the image.

Another feature prevalent in most cameras is the option of an optical or digital zoom. The optical zoom is considered to be more important than the digital zoom because of the quality of image produced. This optical zoom is presented with the camera lens, whereas the digital zoom is more of electronic and a software generated enlargement. It reduces the picture quality resulting in a blur image. It is important to make sure that a camera has a higher optical zoom as opposed to digital zoom.

In some cameras, the buyer is offered both digital and optical zoom options in the same camera. This combination provides sharper images and higher zoom sensitivity. The zoom number is a multiple of the number of times the camera can reliably enlarge the image taken, while the focal length is the difference between the two types. The ability to zoom in and out is down to a camera having a variable or fixed focal point, with the former allowing for zoom operation.

Macro lens is an important feature. It gives a camera the capability to perform extremely detailed close-up photography and produce stunning, professional looking images. This capability is highly desirable especially in nature photography.

The ISO figure in digital cameras is a measurement of the camera lenses to light. A higher ISO figure results in better defined, higher contrast photos. This is due to the increased sensitivity.

The shutter speed and aperture are also features that cannot be ignored. Higher shutter speed enable action shots without blurring. And slow shutter speed enable capturing images of moving objects. The Aperture gives control over areas of focus on an image shot. The Lumix FZ38 is of great quality, reliable, durable and affordable.
