Asking about her likes and dislikes is not only a way to get her to open up, you will also allow her to talk and uphold the conversation. An effective ice-breaker, it has never failed to pique a girl's interest and save guys from those times when they lose subjects to tackle. Formulate questions that pertain to these and she would be more than happy to tell you more about them. As she goes on talking, properly react to them. If you come upon a mutual interest, focus then expound on them. By doing so, you are also talking about something that is of high interest to you.

When both of you are already quite comfortable with each other; you may now make the girl the center of your conversation. This will allow you to get to know her better and, at the same time, grow closer and more comfortable with. She will most likely have no problem with this because we all love to talk about ourselves. You only need to give her the right opening statements and questions to begin with and everything will come smoothly from then on. Refrain from commenting anything that is negative or derogatory. She might find them offensive even if your intentions were otherwise.

Since girls have proven to be the more emotional gender, anything that holds relationship a topic will often hold a girl's interest. There are so many issues that you can tackle today that talk about such. Initially stay on the safe and know how she will react by talking about same-sex marriages and infidelity. Later on, you can move on to more serious talks such as couples living in together before marriage and infidelity. As she talks about her vies with regards to these matters, pay close attention to them and never contradict them.

Other than talking about her job, come up with questions to ask a girl that will talk about her goals and aspirations. If she is still in school, ask her what and where she would want to work. If she is already working, ask her to talk about a project that she is currently working on. You can also ask her what she aspires to do outside her career, whether it be putting funds for a charitable organization or pursuing her big love for photography.

With every topic that you choose, make sure that it will be of interest to her to get her talking.
