Botox is the trade name given to a substance made from a bacteria called Botulinum, it has a number of uses in both cosmetic and medical procedures. A common procedures is its use in removing age lines and wrinkles, predominately from the face and neck. When considering this it is always wise to use a qualified professional in order to avoid any complications.

The rapid rise in demand for this treatment means that it is now the most common form of cosmetic treatment each year. Our fast lives, stress and the environment call all affect healthy skin, it does not stop the ageing process but can work to help rejuvenate our appearance, by removing frown lines and wrinkles.

The popularity of this procedure has risen due to its simplicity. Many prefer this relatively easy option compared to a more invasive surgical procedure. The procedure involves the insertion of a small, think needle into the problem area, a small amount of the botox solution will then be injected. Once injected it works by blocking the nerve endings, which results in a loosening of the muscles meaning a reduction in the lines and wrinkles.

You should expect very few side effects, though you may have redness or bruising around the area injected. You may also experience headaches, you should consult a physician if these issues persist. More often than not you will be able to continue with your everyday activities, in fact some people are having this done on their lunch.

The treatment have been approved since 2002 in the US by the US Food And Drug Administration. The approval covers the injection into the skin and facial muscles of men and woman aged between the age of 18 and 65.

Botox has also been used in medical treatments for a number of years. The treatment has been used to relax the muscles of people who suffer spasms and other muscle complaints.
